Introducing the New Plymouth ITM Interprovincial XTREME Race Day 
This year, we're combining two popular race days into one unforgettable event!
Join us on Saturday 5 September for the ITM Interprovincial XTREME Race Day, a unique celebration of provincial pride and racing at its most extreme.
As the opening feature race day of the 2026/27 season at New Plymouth Raceway, the day combines the excitement of the ITM New Plymouth Interprovincial Challenge with the endurance and spectacle of our traditional XTREME Race Day.
ITM New Plymouth Interprovincial Challenge
Our feature event, the $80,000 ITM New Plymouth Interprovincial**, sees jockeys representing regions from across New Zealand, wearing silks in their provincial colours and competing for regional bragging rights.
We encourage everyone to get behind their province and bring plenty of colour and spirit to the course!
XTREME Racing
The "XTREME" element of the day showcases racing's greatest contrasts, featuring everything from the shortest sprint races to the ultimate staying challenge.
The programme includes races ranging from just 990 metres through to the gruelling 3210m NZB Airfreight Road to the Jericho Cup, testing both horse and rider in one of New Zealand's toughest staying contests.

The marquee will be up with the mechanical bull inside, the Precinct Bar will be open, and totes will be available throughout the day.

Our fashion scouts will be out and about on course looking for the best dressed in their Interprovincial colours β so dress up, stand out and show some provincial pride!
π Two Best Dressed prizes are up for grabs, with each winner receiving a beautiful sash PLUS a $50 betting voucher!

The day doesnβt finish when the racing does! Campbell Vibe will be live in the La Mer Lounge after the last race, so stick around and keep the party going. π»πΆ
