Very busy morning with 67 galloping on course proper. The honours of the morning went to Sumi and Tavattack, who ran a strong 1000m, the last 600 in 36.5. Sumi was impressive last start and looks to have trained on.
Mary Louise and The Dutch Dame worked over a round, speeding up to run the las 600 in 38.2. They were strong to the line.
Conway O’Ceirin and Maolla Miss also worked 1000, home in 38.1
Stable mates, One Bold Cat and Belladonna Lily did identical work, home in 38.3. They were well held.
Recent additions to the Wheeler team, Sir Maverick and an unraced Puccini ran 1200, the last 600 in 38.7. They are staying types.
Brazen Belle and Arcachon ran a steady 1000, the last 600 in 38.1. It took a good effort to beat Arcachon first up and a maiden win is very close.
Final Return and Hanakin ran 1000m, the last 600 in 37.5. Hi Yo Sass Bomb continues to impress.
The impressive maiden winner, Terra Pretta was partnered by Bridal Train over 1000, the last 600 in 37.9. More wins should be in store for Terra Pretta.
NZ Cup placegetter Waisake ran 1600 with Zebedaya, the last 600 in 38.3 Another Welington Cup tilt is likely.
From the Harris barn, Urenui and Beaudz Well ran 1000, home in a sharp 37.6. This was a good effort.
Of the horses to work solo over 1000m, the most impressive was Pure Incanto, (last 600m in 36.8). Za Spirit (36.8) and Puntura (37.3)
