The postponement of Otaki until Thursday and the Awakino Gorge being closed on Saturday meant for a quiet weekend of racing from New Plymouth stables.

With a heavy frost overnight, and course proper gallops around markers on the outside of the track, times are reflective of this.

Time honours of the morning went to the Allan Sharrock trained last start winner Bella Timing who worked solo over 1000M, the last 600M in 39.3. All going to plan she will head to Te Rapa, a week Saturday.

From the same stable Malachy and Indian Gold worked a solid 1600M, home in 41.2. Malachy heading to Otaki on Thursday and Indian Gold to his home track in August. Librero and Brigit did similar work over 1200M, the last 600 in 40.4. Explosive Impact alongside Bridie also did similar work, well held over 1200M, the last 600 in 40.8. Bridie also heads to Otaki on Thursday.

From the Wheeler Barn Keen on Bubbles and Kays Ruebe worked a round and then came home 1600M, the last 600 in 41.7. Black Betty and BeBe Herb did similar work over 1200M, home in 41.6. Black Betty is looking well and should be one to keep on eye on at Otaki.

Summer Breeze worked solo over 1000M, the last 600 in 41.0. She’ll also head to Otaki and will be hoping for a collect for her connections.
